Dhaka: In a significant political development, 24 former leaders and activists from various student and political organizations have formally joined the Justice and Democracy Party (JDP).
The announcement came during JDP’s National Coordination Meeting held yesterday at Shyamal Bangla Resort, where the party’s central leadership welcomed the new members with flowers and an official induction ceremony.
Among the notable figures are, Faijullah Noman, former General Secretary of the Rashtra Sangskar Chatra Andalan Bangladesh, Nayeem Al Islam, former Acting President of Dhaka North Chatra Odhikar Parishad, Jaber Ahmed and Sajjad Khan, former central members of Nagarik Chatra Oikko, Nafiz Imtiaz Shimul, former leader of AB Party, Md. Sarowar Morshed, Zahirul Islam Ami, and Abdul Hamid, former leaders of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Faridul Islam, former student leader.
Other new entrants include Shafiqul Islam Suman, Engineer Mutasim Billah, Nechar Uddin, Mahmudul Islam Sagor, Manisha Akter Shruti, Shehnaz Rashid Khan, Fuad Zaman, Mohammad Israfil Amin, Jannatul Ferdous Soma, Jihadul Islam, Md. Shah Poran Sayem, Md. Tarekul Islam, and Mahfuz Islam.
JDP, which officially launched on April 3, 2026, positions itself on the ideals of Bangladeshi nationalism, reformist politics, and social democracy. The party leadership stated that the newcomers will soon be entrusted with “honorable responsibilities” across different organizational levels, based on their political experience and leadership skills.
