The Baishakhi Shobhajatra 1433, formerly known as Mangal Shobhajatra, concluded peacefully in Dhaka under tight security arrangements. Organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, this year’s procession carried the theme “Baishaber Ekotaan, Gonotantrer Punorutthan” (Harmony of Bengali New Year, Revival of Democracy).
The colorful rally began at 9:05 AM from Gate No. 3 (North) of the Faculty of Fine Arts, moved past Shahbagh Police Station, the Raju Memorial Sculpture, Doel Chattar, and Bangla Academy, before returning to the Faculty premises at 10:05 AM.
Law enforcement agencies, including police, RAB, APBN, BGB, and intelligence units, were deployed from the early hours to ensure safety. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ramna Division) Masud Alam stated that Pohela Boishakh is a festival for all Bengalis, and comprehensive measures were taken to allow people to celebrate without hindrance.

Meanwhile, cultural organization Chhayanaut upheld its tradition of welcoming the Bengali New Year at Ramna Batamul. The programme began at dawn, 6:15 AM, with a chorus performance of “Jago Alok-Logone” as the first light broke. Artists presented melodious performances, while crowds dressed in traditional Boishakhi attire gathered to greet the new year with hopes of renewal, equality, and unity.
From children to elders, the collective spirit was one of shedding past burdens and embracing a fresh beginning—calling for a Bangladesh built on harmony, inclusiveness, and shared aspirations.
