Bangladesh to Boycott T20 World Cup in India Over Security Concerns

Bangladesh will not travel to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup, as the government has decided to boycott the tournament citing security risks.

The decision was announced on Thursday after a meeting with national team players at a five-star hotel in the capital. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul confirmed the government’s stance while speaking to journalists.

According to officials, prevailing security concerns in India were the primary reason behind the withdrawal. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on February 7.

The decision means Bangladesh will stay away from one of the major global cricket events, a move that is expected to have significant sporting and diplomatic implications. No alternative arrangements or participation plans have been announced so far.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup organizers have yet to officially respond to Bangladesh’s decision.
