Promising ‘tickets to Jannat’ for votes is shirk: Tarique Rahman

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has accused a political party of committing shirk by promising tickets to Jannat, warning that such religious guarantees deceive voters and push Muslims towards shirk (polytheism).

“That which belongs to Allah, no human can guarantee. This is equivalent to committing shirk with Allah,” he said during a public rally at the Govt Aliya Madrasa ground in Sylhet today (22 January).

Tarique said, “Today, they are deceiving you by promising tickets to Jannat for votes; think for yourselves how they will deceive you after the elections. Not only are they deceiving people, but they are also pushing Muslims towards shirk by doing so.

“Allah is the sole owner of hell, heaven, and the world. No one except Allah has the right to give guarantees on these matters. Yet a political party is talking about giving tickets to paradise.”

The BNP chairman further said, “We saw them during the 1971 Liberation War. Millions of people were martyred because of them. Not only that, mothers and sisters lost their honour because of them.”

Alleging that the elections have been turned into a farce in the name of postal ballots, Tarique said, “People’s votes are being stolen beforehand.”

He also called for unity to restore people’s voting rights and democracy, and urged people to remain vigilant and united against such tactics.
