National Citizen Party’s alliance with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its eight allied parties is based on political understanding ahead of the upcoming elections, not ideological, said NCP Convener Nahid Islam today (28 December).
“The alliance has been formed for greater unity based on the majority opinion within the party,” Nahid said at a press briefing held at the NCP office in the capital.
Regarding the resignation of multiple top leaders, he said, “Each person has made their own decision. However, we will discuss with them again and try to make them understand.”
Earlier this evening, Jamaat’s Amir Shafiqur Rahman confirmed the alliance with the NCP at a press briefing attended.
