Infantino Sees Bangladesh as Future FIFA World Cup Contender

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said Bangladesh has a realistic chance of playing in the FIFA World Cup in the future, citing the country’s growing football popularity and FIFA’s development goals.

Responding to a question from a fan on Instagram on Friday about whether Bangladesh could ever qualify for the World Cup, Infantino gave a clear and encouraging answer.

“Of course Bangladesh can play in the FIFA World Cup,” he said. “One of FIFA’s objectives is to give countries like Bangladesh the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.”

Describing Bangladesh as a football-loving nation, the FIFA chief said the sport is becoming increasingly popular in the country, which strengthens its long-term prospects on the global stage.

Infantino also noted that FIFA is investing significantly in the development of football and football-related infrastructure in Bangladesh to support growth at grassroots and professional levels.

“There is talent all over the world, and Bangladesh is no exception,” he said. “We are looking forward to seeing Bangladesh at the World Cup in the not-too-distant future.”
