Nazmul Hassan Resigns from BCB, Faruque Ahmed Takes Over

Nazmul Hassan has stepped down as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after a decade-long tenure. He will be succeeded by former captain Faruque Ahmed.

The announcement of Nazmul’s resignation came shortly after an emergency BCB meeting held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Wednesday. Nazmul was the longest-serving president in the history of the BCB.

Following his resignation, the process to elect a new chairman was expedited.

Faruque Ahmed, the 15th president of the BCB, is the first former cricketer to hold this position.

Nazmul has been absent from the public eye since the fall of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 and has not been seen at the BCB offices since. There are speculations that he has relocated to London with his family.

Nazmul first assumed the role of BCB president in 2012 and was subsequently re-elected in 2013, 2017, and 2021.
